Which Gift Should I Get?
We’re coming up on the time of year when I start getting emails from spouses of readers.
My partner is a gardener and loves your blog.
Have you got any garden-inspired gift suggestions?
Wanting to Get it Right
Here’s what I think. First of all, those of us who are nuts about gardening probably always have some dreams for the future of the garden. This may involve the big stuff like greenhouses, landscaping, sheds, patios, fences, and other structures as well as garden beds, plants, and trees.
That’s the stuff you don’t want to guess about. If you have that in your budget, let the gardener have the fun of deciding all of it.
Small gifts, on the other hand, allow some room for play.
If you really want to surprise the recipient with something garden-inspired you know they’ll enjoy, you’re going to have to use your spidey sense to pick up clues.
I’ve gathered some preliminary ideas here to get the ball rolling.
I’m asking readers to chime in with their faves.
While I’m a big fan of one-of-a-kind handmade treasures, in this case we’ll stick to readily-available mail-order items so there’s a good chance you can get it.
Be sure to add your suggestions (with a link to the product) to the comment box below.
Garden and Nature-Inspired Gifts for Gardeners
These gift ideas come with a quirky sense of humour. If you’ve got other ideas, whether they’re similar, wilder, or more conventional or conservative, share the Amazon links in the comments.
1 May the Forest Be With You t-shirt | Available in different colors and styles.
2 Skull and flower phone case | Be sure to get one for the right make/model of phone
3 Veggie phone case | You can also get them custom printed online.
4 Kitten shower curtain | I personally enjoy some kitschy-retro humour in my furnishings. For others this may be a cause for divorce.
5 Grow Dammit rock | The sentiment is great but handing over a fake rock may cause some real ones to be thrown.
6 How to survive a garden gnome attack | Walking dead fans may enjoy this humorous take on zombie garden gnomes. Or are they real?
7 Scrabble for gardeners | At last! A way to win with all those words we gardeners know!
8 Deer tote | I have a love for themed bags, wallets, gizmos, and gadgets. It’s portable art, really.
9 Vegetable gardener’s journal | This one is traditional, kind of sensible. But is it too… meh?
10 Kitten water bottle | I know what you might say. Why would a grown person carry a cat water bottle? Because you can.
11 Sunflower umbrella | I confess I adore artistic umbrellas. There’s all sorts of wonderful ones in museum gifts shops.
12 Blue dahlia umbrella | There’s a wonderful creamy yellow version of this one (with a black top) but the price is ridiculous.
13 Owl umbrella | I’d love a pair of owl rain boots to go with it.
