This is my mother’s garden and shows the difference seven years makes. Some people can’t stand the thought of waiting seven years for a mature garden but the good news is, by the third year this garden was looking full and lush.
Here’s a brief video tour of the garden now
The garden is on a small L-shaped lot. When she bought the house, it had grass, a rose bush, and a giant satellite dish. Can you guess what she kept?
My mom was actually midway through a major weeding session when I quickly snapped these photos so there’s lots of weeds and riff-raff laying around but I think, like me, you’ll see beyond that and appreicate what an artistic gardener she is. And what a sleuth she is for finding fun garden art items at the thrift store.
You’ll probably also see why my mom and I are such tightknit garden buddies: we love many of the same things and share a lot of ideas. Or steal them from each other.

I hope you enjoyed the garden.
