Hand-Paint Custom Canvas Shoes
These are the supplies recommended in my new ebook, How to Paint Shoes: A beginner’s guide to creating custom canvas shoes with acrylic paint.
I’ve linked to examples on Amazon but I always recommend you use what you have, shop locally (used if possible), or borrow items if you can instead of buying new.
You can find all of the items listed below here on my Shoe Painting Resource List at Amazon.com.

I use a few drops of liquid dish soap.
Canvas: prime and paint over mistakes
Sole of Shoes: mask off canvas area and use cotton swab on sole with one of these:
Nail polish remover and swabs (optional) | See it on Amazon.
If it does not work, try one of these. All of them worked in my tests.
Methyl Hydrate (99.9% pure) |see it on Amazon.com
Mineral Spirits |see it on Amazon.com
WD-40 | see it on Amazon.com
If you get acrylic paint on the sole of the shoe, it may be removed with one of these. I tested all of them on different shoes and each one worked.
Before trying it, tape over the good areas you want to protect.
