I have been saving and collecting seeds for years and this is my favorite way to organize everything: I keep seeds together by their common names. All the beet seeds go in one section, all the carrots in another and so on. It’s simple, logical, and makes everything easy to find.
These printable plant name files are geared toward anyone growing (mostly) vegetables and herbs from seed along with an assortment of flowering annuals and perennials. You can see the list of the plant names provided here.
This is not a physical product: it is a digital product (only) that includes four files you save to your device and use to print your own labels. They are preformatted in four common label sizes. You can see the layouts and sizes below.
The most basic label (File A) has names only. The other three files include images along with the written names.
You can see how I use the labels here in this article on organizing seed collections.
While labelling seed collections is the most popular use, these labels could also be used for things like labelling seedling pots, tracking plants in a garden journal or planner, signs for a seed swap gathering, and for mapping out garden plans on paper.
If you enjoy getting things in order like I do, it’s most enjoyable to print out a fresh set of labels and get everything tidied up.
